I chose to design an info-graphic about food cravings. I was inspired to make this info-graphic because of an article written by Ben Greenfield titled, “What Do Food Cravings Mean? 21 Common Food Cravings And What You Can Do About Them.” Ben Greenfield is a fitness/health advocate, author, and CEO of Kion, a business that offers various products that can help support a healthy lifestyle. His website, BenGreenfieldFitness, posted the article to help people struggling to fight their unhealthy food cravings. The article offers alternatives to things such as sugar, oily foods, and bread. Instead, Ben suggests when you think you want, for instance chocolate, that your body/diet is lacking certain vitamins.
This article is very informative; however, it is a long read. Therefore, I decided to make an info-graphic with fun images and vibrant colors to catch the attention of the reader. This approach makes the information easily digestible and you don’t have to take the time to click through the article to find your particular craving. I decided to make the length greater than the width to make it mobile friendly. A reader could easily screenshot this graphic and keep it for reference when a craving kicks in. I chose a dark grey background to contrast the energetic lime green. The color palette for the base of the design is simple as to not muddle in with the wide variety of colors in the food images.
